This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a Panzer Army report of British losses on July 22; with a query from the Prime Minister (PM); and the Chief of the Imperial General Staff's (CIGS's) reply; on Panzer Army casualties for July 1-23; with the PM's query and CIGS's reply; from the Japanese ambassador in Istanbul, Turkish intelligence on the collapse of the Red Army and Soviet demands for a second front, on July 24; and from the Japanese minister in Lisbon, German and Portuguese intelligence on Allied activity in west Africa and speculation on a second front.
