Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that the German Air Force (GAF) are to give priority to the transport of personnel for the Panzer Army, on July 23; a Panzer Army report for July 23, describing enemy attacks being repulsed; that a GAF fighter group rejects the ME110F because of engine failures, on July 24; that the Panzer Army request anti-tank guns be sent to its infantry units, on July 23; and a Panzer Army report for July 23; on the Southern Russian Front: of GAF operational orders for July 25 in support of a German offensive; on the German Navy: a general report for July 24; Naval Headlines, covering Italian activity; and a message from the Japanese ambassador in Vichy on Darlan's views on the French warships at Alexandria, from July 21.
