Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that a German Air Force (GAF) attack on Suez has been postponed, as of July 20; Naval Headlines, covering German Arctic convoys and Italian shipping to and from Tobruk; and messages from the Japanese minister in Sofia, regarding a German view on the Russian Front and German plans; from the Japanese minister in Madrid, that the Spanish and the Germans fear the effects of BBC broadcasts, on July 14; from the Japanese minister in Rome on Axis successes in North Africa, from July 17; from the Spanish ambassador in London on Allied preparations for a second front, on July 17; from the Turkish military attaché in Kuibyshev, on faults in the disposition of the Soviet Army, on July 14; and from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara, the text of a report from Kuibyshev on Swedish views on the war in Russia and a request for information from Stockholm, on July 17.
