Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that German Air Force (GAF) bombers are transporting bombs and aviation fuel to Africa, on July 16-17; that GAF bombers are to transport bombs to Fuka, on July 16; a GAF report for July 17, on operations over El Alamein; that the GAF require the return of unserviceable aircraft engines from Africa, on July 18; on GAF intentions for July 18-19; that a tanker will be available on July 25 for the transport of GAF fuel to Africa; a Panzer Army report for July 17, that enemy attacks were repulsed and the Panzer Army is regrouping; on North Africa: that elements of the Italian paratroop division are in Africa, to be followed by the infantry division to strengthen the Italians, from July 18; on the German Navy: a summary for July 17; and on the Southern Russian Front: of GAF orders for July 19, including providing support for a German advance on Rostov.
