Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that all serviceable transport aircraft of the 2nd Air Corps are required in Maleme for special tasks, on July 17; of Goering's agreement for the cancellation of a move of night fighters to Norway from the Mediterranean, on July 16; a report of German Air Force (GAF) operations in North Africa for July 16; that Allied warships in the Mediterranean were attacked by Ju87 aircraft on July 16; a GAF report for July 17: of Allied armour concentrations on the Trento Division front, and that Allied penetration between the Trieste and Trento Divisions was blocked; on North Africa: that aviation fuel being carried carried by the Sybilla is considered decisive for the operations of the 10th Air Corps on July 17; that the 15th Panzer Division repulsed an Allied attack south east of Alam El Dihmaniya, with further attacks expected according to information from a 'reliable source' on July 17; and that coal stocks in Tripoli are extremely low as of July 17.
