Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that the Panzer Army consider the situation on the El Alamein Front critical because of the weakness of the Italian troops, and have called for German reinforcements; that the 15th Panzer Division failed to reach its attack objective; a 20th Italian Motorised Corps report of a successful Allied attack in the rear of the Trieste Division; of arrangements for supply convoys from Crete to North Africa, on July 16; and that fuel and oil captured in Tobruk are useful to the Axis forces, as of July 16.
