Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that a full-scale German attack in the northern sector on the El Alamein Front was repelled, with a 10 km advance claimed in the southern sector, on July 13; from the Turkish chargé in Kuibyshev, a report on the progress of the war in Russia, on July 12; and the Japanese minister's report from Madrid on the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs' talks with Ciano, touching on Spain's favourable attitude to the Axis powers and on the question of restoration of the Spanish monarchy, on July 10.
