Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a damage report after an RAF raid on Bir El Abd; and that maps of Egypt are required; on the Mediterranean: of a planned attack on a British convoy; Naval Headlines, covering German, Italian and Spanish activity; and messages from the Japanese ambassador in Bangkok, giving views on the Japanese policy towards Burma; from the Turkish ambassador in Vichy on German interest in the attitude of Turkey; and from the Japanese minister in Santiago, on the Chilean attitude to a possible attack on the Panama Canal.
