Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a Panzer Army summary for July 4 in the El Alamein area; on Allied and Axis troop dispositions; that the Panzer Division has not yet been relieved by the Italians; on heavy Allied air attacks; a Panzer Army summary for July 3; on continued stubborn British resistance in the El Alamein area; that the strained supply situation of the Panzer Army and the low fighting strength of Axis divisions will bring their offensive to a close; on an urgent request for reinforcements, of July 3; a German Air Force (GAF) summary of July 5 on RAF operations of July 4 praising the cooperation between the British air and ground forces; that Italian bi-planes attacked Axis headquarters, including the German Africa Corps, on the morning of July 5; and of criticism of GAF status reports; and on the Arctic convoy: of Allied losses following German aircraft torpedo attacks, on July 4.
