A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a German Air Force (GAF) report for July 4; that German troop reinforcements are being flown to Tobruk and Mersa Matruh from July 5; on GAF air support for the Panzer Army on July 4; on GAF electronic counter measures against British forces on July 4-5; that the GAF Fighter Group has completed a transfer from southern Russia to Sicily on July 4; that air attacks are planned against Malta on July 5; a further GAF report for July 4; that the Panzer Army is on the defensive and regrouping after British attacks caused a critical situation on July 4; and that one Panzer division is to be relieved by the Italians on July 4; Naval Headlines, covering the German reaction to an Allied Arctic convoy on July 3-4; that the Tirpitz and escorts are waiting off the North Cape; and on German troop transfers from Crete to Tobruk, on July 7-8.
