Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports; on correspondence relating to the possible leakage of information, from July 4-9; on North Africa: reports relating to the investment of El Alamein, from July 2; on an air recce of Alexandria; a report from the 10th Air Corps on the efforts of the French admiral to avoid being bombed by the German Air Force (GAF) on July 3, and that the French are to be permitted to sail unhindered only if en route for neutral or Axis ports; that the mining of the Suez Canal and Suez harbour was ordered by Hitler, on July 2; a German intelligence report on a strong Allied recce force being dispatched against the coast; of a call for bombing attacks on El Alamein and the road eastward, on July 2; that the Panzer Army aim to cut the road east of El Alamein on July 3; from the Chinese minister in Ankara on the Middle East situation following the fall of Mersa Matruh; an Italian report from Turkey on Turkish-Soviet relations on June 27; and from the Italian consul in Adana on the reactions in Syria and Lebanon following Axis successes, on June 29.
