Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: Naval Headlines, covering Italian activity around Tobruk (the wrong number is on the coversheet); on North Africa: on the location of a German division in Capuzzo, on June 22; that the German division is not in Capuzzo, but is going to attack, on June 22; on German Air Force (GAF) preparations for a possible advance of the Panzer Army on June 23; of a GAF air recce for June 23; of GAF intentions for June 23; that a German division is to move on June 23; on the German Army's intentions for June 23; of a request for GAF bomber operations from Crete on June 23; that GAF aircraft are to move to aerodromes further forward, on June 22-23; of GAF intentions for June 23; and a German appreciation of the British forces in Tobruk and Libya, on June 18; on the Mediterranean: a GAF report of Allied preparations to attack Aegean islands from Cyprus, on June 17; on North Norway and Finland: of a GAF request for fuel stocks on June 20; on the Northern Russian Front: of GAF preparations for a special undertaking on June 22; 1107/T28, 1110/T23, and 1110/T19 were abstracted for the Prime Minister (PM), see 9866.
