Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that a statement of the Panzer Army's strength and losses is required by General Halder as of June 10; a report for June 11 describing heavy Allied casualties; a German naval report for June 14, covering the Atlantic and the Mediterranean; on South Russia: a 4th Air Fleet special operational report, for June 14; Naval Headlines; the Japanese ambassador in Hanoi calls for a response to reports of a U.S. naval victory at Midway on June 10; of a Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs complaint to Lisbon about the non-cooperation of Portuguese authorities in Timor and pro-Australian activities, on June 8; and a Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs signal to the ambassador in Vichy, outlining Japanese policy towards France and French possessions, on April 28.
