Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following messages: from the Vichy French military attaché in Chungking, on Chinese estimates of plans for the Japanese offensive, on May 26; from the Italian air attaché in Bucharest, on German intelligence reports on May 29; from the Italian ambassador in Changhai on the war in China, on May 30; from the Portuguese ambassador in Rio de Janeiro on Brazilian attacks on Axis submarines, on May 30; and that Brazil will enter the war, on May 30; from the Portuguese chargé in Berlin on German views on the war, on May 31; on the decline of Franco-Italian relations, as of May 31; from the Turkish minister in Madrid on Italian designs on French territory, on May 30; from the Japanese minister in Madrid on defence measures at Dakar, on May 30; and the Chief of the Air Staff's (CAS's) reply on 1027/T17 - see 9743.
