Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on German intelligence: that an appreciation of Allied forces in North Africa identifies that Free French forces are controlling the area north of Bir Acheim, on June 1; and that Allied forces surrounded in the area north of Got El Ualeb were captured, on June 1; that Hitler is to be informed of the content of captured British orders relating to the treatment of prisoners, on June 1; Naval Headlines; an Italian report from Santiago on repatriated Brazilians' attitude to the fascist regime, on May 27; an Italian report from Tokyo on Japanese military resistance to Axis involvement in military commissions in Japan, on May 31; a Portuguese report of Japanese concern over shipping losses, on May 30; and on Portuguese interest in U.K.-U.S.-Soviet treaty negotiations, on May 30.
