Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: Panzer Army Africa reports for May 27 and 29, and their intentions for May 30; on German Air Force (GAF) air operations on May 29; on the 10th Air Corps' intentions for May 30 and 31, anticipating an British attack on May 31; a German naval report for all areas for May 29; an Italian report of rumours in Spain of possible Communist disturbances triggered by the poor food situation, on May 23; a Turkish report on the food situation in Germany and occupied countries, on May 28; and a Turkish report from Chungking of a Japanese attempt to mediate between Germany and Russia, on May 26.
