Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a report for the Eastern Front for May 10-12; of a German counter attack in the Kharkov area on May 14; that Kesselring complains of an aviation fuel shortage in the operational area in North Africa, on May 15; a naval report for all areas issued by the German Supreme Command of the Navy, on May 13; on very urgent map printing for the German Army in North Africa, on May 13; that the Italians are expecting a British attack and have declared a state of emergency at Arco Phileni in North Africa, on May 15; that the Germans are anticipating a British landing [in Norway, on the Spitzbergen coast], on May 15; the Japanese report a Japanese transport being torpedoed west of Nagasaki, on May 11; on the Romanian chief of staff's account of the Crimean offensive, on May 11; the Japanese ambassador in Berlin reports meeting with Ribbentrop and negotiating a Japanese-German economic agreement on May 10; a Japanese report of Gandhi's policy, on May 12; the text of a joint letter from the Grand Mufti and Gailani to Ciano, quoted by the Japanese ambassador in Rome, on May 12; on a Japanese propaganda directive on the Burma campaign being issued by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on May 12; the Japanese minister in Berne reports views on the Soviet-German war of a neutral observer, on May 13; and Ciano's views on the Crimean offensive were quoted by the Japanese ambassador in Rome, on May 13.
