Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: that Kesselring is to open a battle head-quarters in Derna, on May 12; that German transport aircraft were shot down by the RAF north of Derna, and on GAF instructions for the prevention of any repetition of this, on May 12; that German air transport between Brindisi and Crete is reduced with effect from May 16; that air reconnaissances were ordered in preparation for a coming operation in south Russia, on May 12; of fighting on the Kerch Peninsula, on May 12; that German services behind the central Russian Front were seriously affected by partisan activity, on May 8; on the 8th Air Corps' scale of effort in the Crimea area, on May 12; of a Japanese propaganda statement on the Pacific, on May 9; of Portuguese speculation on the possibility of a Japanese-Soviet agreement, from May 11; the Portuguese minister in Rome reports on the Italian internal and political situation, on May 11; the Turkish chargé in Kuibyshev reports on U.K.-Soviet negotiations for the recognition of Russian boundaries, on May 11; and the Saudi minister in Vichy reports on the postponement of the Italian occupation of Tunis and Nice, on May 11.
