Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that Kesselring orders counter-measures to British air raids on Martuba, on March 16; on the German Air Force's (GAF's) concern at the excellence of British aircraft reporting and detection services, on March 16; a GAF reconnaissance and operations report of March 16; a further GAF reconnaissance and operations report of March 16; a further GAF report of March 16; on a GAF dispute with the German Army over Burckhardt group's equipment; and that the GAF are short of motorised transport fuel, on March 16; on the Mediterranean: that GAF Rhodes is to reconnaissance Alexandria in connection with an Axis convoy to Tripoli, on March 16; on the GAF reconnaissance of Alexandria and Aboukir and their intentions for March 17; and on the GAF photo-reconnaissance of Alexandria on March 16; and on the Russian Front: on GAF reconnaissance flights against partisans, on March 13; and further intelligence on the move of armoured units from Paris to Ukraine, on March 12.
