Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: intelligence on German Air Force (GAF) railway attacks in North Africa on March 7; on GAF operations and reconnaissance on March 7; on a GAF attack on a railway on March 7; on GAF railway operations on the night of March 6-7; a GAF report for March 7 and their intentions for March 8; intelligence on the arrival of an Axis convoy being postponed to March 10; that a GAF bomber and fighter unit is to transfer from Sicily on March 8-9, noting that the transfer is a 2-day deployment, perhaps to support an Axis convoy to Tripoli on March 10; on GAF plans for a torpedo attack on the Suez Canal on March 7; a GAF report from March 7; and details of an Axis convoy on March 7. This file also includes the following reports on the Russian front: a German 9th Corps report from March 5; a ground forces report to the GAF Air Fleet 4 on March 5; a German ground forces report from March 5; part of a German ground forces report for March 7; and a GAF 4th Air Fleet warning against sabotage and increased paratroop operations from March 7.
