Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: on Kesselring's return to Italy from North Africa on March 7; a German Air Force (GAF) report for March 5 on operations and dispositions of ground forces; a report on GAF reconnaissance and operations from March 6; intelligence on the GAF's plans to reinforce the northern part of the centre from north and south on the Russian Front from March 5; a report on heavy German rail movements from Romania to take place in March; reports of the German 59th Corps for March 3 and March 4; and a report of the German 4th Army for March 5, as it was in retreat.
