Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following BONIFACE reports on North Africa: (8413 numbered incorrectly 5413) that British attacks in the northern sector of Agedabia and from the direction of Haseiat had been driven back with air support, despite the critical fuel situation, on December 28; and that a British naval formation east of Tobruk was attacked with bombs as torpedo bombers were employed carrying fuel on December 28. This file also contains a BONIFACE report from the Russian Front: a 4th Air Fleet report on the orders to the 11th Army to renew the attack on Sevastopol having destroyed the Soviet forces attempting a landing near Kerch, and on 4th Air Corps plans to provide support for the 11th Army.
