A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following BONIFACE reports on North Africa: that authorization for mining Benghazi harbour was given on December 23; that the 10th Air Corps was to carry out the mining of Benghazi harbour on December 24; that He111s were being employed as transport aircraft to carry fuel to North Africa from December 23; that the Fliegerfuehrer Africa was reporting a lack of fuel, oil, bombs and rations, and that most aircraft had empty fuel tanks as of December 24; that Ju88 aircraft flying from Greece on operations over Africa were at the limit of their range without refuelling facilities in Africa on December 23; and that Kesselring was calling a conference of senior officers on December 23. This file also contains the following reports from the Russia front: that the 8th Air Corps was reporting heavy units operating in support of the 4th Army and Panzer Group Guderian with some elements acting as army fuel transports on December 23; that the 3rd Panzer Group was without reserves following transfers of units to support the 5th Army Corps as of December 22; and that the 56th Army Corps was holding off Soviet attacks.
