Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a report of the Supreme Command of the Army on the Russian front that there were Soviet attacks all along the front on December 8; a German 2nd Army report on Soviet attacks on December 8; and a Naval Headlines report on Italian activity. This file also contains messages from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin reporting that the declaration of war on the U.S. is being discussed with Hitler, who has ordered attacks on U.S. shipping from December 8; an instruction to the Italian Embassy in Washington to destroy secret material and prepare to burn ciphers on December 8; a message from the Japanese ambassador in Buenos Aires on Argentinian attitudes to a Japanese-U.S. war from December 8; and a report on the Chinese decision to declare war on Japan, Germany and Italy on December 9.
