Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. The file includes the following reports on North Africa: intelligence of German Air Force (GAF) attacks on Tobruk on December 7-8; a report on the removal of a GAF fighter unit to Tmimi to be carried out with utmost speed from December 7; a GAF photo-reconnaissance report on December 7; intelligence on GAF bombing on December 7; a report that a GAF fighter squadron was expected at Agedabia on December 7; and intelligence on aerodromes in Greece for use by fighters transiting to Africa from December 6; on the Mediterranean: a request that GAF reconnaissance reports of shipping be sent promptly so that attacks can be carried out from December 6; and intelligence on the GAF's reception of an Italian reconnaissance report of the British fleet at sea on December 7. This file also includes a German 41st Corps report on the catastrophic state of the roads on the Moscow front from December 7; a German 2nd Army report of December 7; intelligence that the German V Corps was to withdraw on December 8; a Japanese note from Tokyo telling all posts that relations with Great Britain and the U.S. are extremely critical from December 7; a message from the Chinese ambassador in London reporting that the Germans are supplying poison gas to the Japanese for experimental use in China, on December 5; from the Japanese minister in Sofia on U.S. views on a Soviet-U.S. non-aggression pact, of November 24; a note from Tokyo informing overseas posts of the discontinuance of Japanese-U.S. talks on November 28; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin on communicating details of Japanese-U.S. talks to Germany and Italy from December 5; and from the French chargé in Bangkok to the Vichy regime on Thailand and Japanese plans from December 6.
