This file includes the following reports on the Moscow Front: a fragmentary report of German withdrawals and advances on December 4; and a German report of December 4; on the Russian Front: German Air Force (GAF) air intentions for December 5; on Greece: the GAF have an urgent need for transport to carry supplies for Africa from Patras port to an aerodrome, on December 4; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, reports of November 21 on German progress on the Russian Front, North Africa, Franco-German relations and the despatch of U-boats to the Mediterranean; on the Mediterranean: a reply from the First Sea Lord (1SL) to the Prime Minister's (PM's) query on U-boat developments, on December 4; a report that Tokyo instructed Rangoon to send back Japanese who are versed in Burmese conditions; Chungking describes the Australian approach on Japanese-U.S. talks and asks London to ascertain if this was primed by the British, on December 2; and from the French Embassy in Washington, to Vichy on Roosevelt's decision to send a personal representative to the near east, on November 26.
