Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin on Thai fears of a Japanese invasion, on November 20; from the Japanese ambassador in Rome on the Italian view of the North African campaign on November 28; from the Japanese consul in Capetown on the visit of HMS Prince of Wales, on November 29; the Turkish ambassador in Teheran reports on the Iranian situation and a meeting with Sikorski on November 30; the Turkish minister in Buenos Aires reports on an Argentinean decision to take defensive measures on December 2; the Japanese minister in Saigon reports on French alarm at the actions of the Japanese in Indo-China, on November 20; the Turkish ambassador in Tokyo reports on the probable breakdown of Japanese-U.S. talks on December 1; and the Japanese charg� in London reports on arrangements for the withdrawal of the Embassy, on December 1.
