Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a German report of a British attack on the Italians, on November 27; an Italian report of November 27, on the failure of Italian and German attacks in North Africa; on German Air Force (GAF) fuel stocks for November 30; the GAF report salvaging fuel barrels from the sea at Derna, on November 30; that anti-aircraft ammunition was sunk in a ship at Benghazi, on November 28, with more urgently needed by the Germans; that GAF Fieldmarshal Kesselring cancelled his visit, on November 30; that transport aircraft are to fly from Crete to Bernina and return, on November 30; that Italian destroyers are to dump barrels of petrol outside Derna harbour, on December 2; that the transfer of a GAF fighter unit to Africa was cancelled, on November 30; on the Mediterranean: a GAF report on the movement of ships with cargoes for Africa, on November 30; that Italian aircraft have been ordered to protect convoys, with a ship sunk near Benghazi, on December 1; the 1 Panzer Army is retreating and the 5 Air Corps is to withdraw to Brussels, on December 1; on the Russian fronts: reports for November 30; on the transfer of GAF 3 Group Kg 55 from Ukraine to Nantes, on December 1; that a GAF unit transferred to Brussels, on December 1; and a GAF operations report of November 30; on China: a report from Chungking to London on U.S. assurances re Japanese-U.S. negotiations, on November 27; a report that the Japanese ambassador in Hanoi seeks instructions on action in the event of hostilities, on November 25, and of Tokyo's soothing reply on November 28; on Mexico: the minister in Berlin reports on German propaganda especially against the U.S., on November 28; in Turkey: on the situation on the Moscow Front, from November 26; and the Turkish ambassador reports on London's views on the war in the Soviet Union and North Africa, on November 27.
