Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: the German Air Force (GAF) report salvaging only 40 of the aviation fuel barrels jettisoned by Italian destroyers at Derna, on November 29; a GAF fuel return for November 29; the GAF report the arrival of supplies at Benghazi port, on November 28; that GAF General Geissler is to meet Fieldmarshal Kesselring on November 30; and that shipping in Benghazi was hit by the RAF on November 28-29; on the Mediterranean: a Goering order of November 30 to the effect that aerodromes on Crete and Sicily are to be prepared for use by air torpedo aircraft; of GAF Fieldmarshal Kesselring's planned movements, on November 30; and a GAF report on the shipping of supplies, on November 29; on the Russian Front: of GAF intentions for the night of November 29-30 in the face of heavy Soviet attacks; on GAF withdrawals from the fronts on November 29; and on the possible move of a fighter training group from Warsaw to France, on November 28; on China: a report from Chungking to London on a proposed Japanese-U.S. agreement, on November 26; from the Chinese ambassador in Washington to London on Japanese-U.S. conversations, on November 27; on Japan: Tokyo on the renewal of the anti-Comintern Pact, from November 25, with a comment from the Prime Minister (PM); and the Turkish minister in Berne reports on the Papal Nuncio's views on the possibilities of peace, on November 27.
