Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: on the 4th Air Fleet's instructions following surprise daylight air raids by the Soviets on Breslau and Warsaw; on the 4th Air Fleet's instructions for winter camouflage of aircraft in Russia; on re-equipment of the 1st and 2nd Air Groups; on permission for the destroyer/cruiser Procida and Maritza to sail being refused until Benghazi is clear enough for them to enter and off load, on November 18; Naval Headlines; the Turkish ambassador in Vichy reports German terms for a peace treaty with France on November 12; an Italian report from Shanghai on Japanese intentions, from November 15; a Japanese report from Ankara that Turkey is seeking an opportunity to act as a peace mediator, from November 14; a Japanese proposal to invite Nankin government participation in the new anti-comintern protocol, from November 14; and a Portuguese report from Ankara on Von Papen's comments on Turkey's wish to act for peace, from November 15.
