Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: of fierce Soviet resistance in Crimea on November 15; that the 1st Panzer Army reports having rations for a few days only on November 16; that the Supreme Army Command and 3rd Panzer Group were informed of continued Soviet attacks and the exhaustion of the 131st Infantry Division on November 15; a report of fighting north west of Moscow on November 15; of a lack of protection for the Cararact section of the Danube; that no transport is available in Italy for 100 pound bombs for Africa; that General Rommel was in Rome, on November 13; of the transfer of a dive bomber unit from Crete to North Africa on November 16; Naval Headlines, covering a German report of a U-boat attack resulting in the sinking of HMS Ark Royal and damage to HMS Malaya on November 15; that Spezia is to be used as a U-boat base in the Mediterranean; and that an Italian services request for a permanent submarine patrol off Ras Hilal was turned down; of the Japanese Foreign Minister's appraisal of the war situation, on November 11; a Turkish report of German intentions for governing occupied Russia, from November 14; a Turkish report on Spain and the war, from November 14; a Turkish report on probable Axis help to Spanish forces in the event of war, from November 14; on the Grand Mufti's request for information about his family in Tehran relayed via the Swedish Legation on November 10; and the Turkish ambassador in Kuibyshev reports a conversation with a British ambassador, on November 11.
