Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: of Junkers aircraft ferrying navigation fuel to Nikolaev on November 4; that fighting is continuing in the rear of the German troops passing through Kursk, on November 3; that the 6th Army Corps was held up by stiff Soviet resistance east and southeast of Kalinin, their situation report indicating serious losses in armoured vehicles; of German forces south of Simferopol, on November 3; a supplementary morning report for November 4, of air raids carried out against British shipping in the Gulf of Suez and Red Sea; and the Naval Headlines, covering U-boat activities against convoys in the Atlantic; a report that Soviet warships had moved westwards out of the Gulf of Finland; and that two French submarines in the Atlantic are reported to have been ordered to attack British shipping.
