Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Russian fronts: a situation report of October 29; on the Central Russian Front: German Air Force (GAF) operation orders, for October 31; on the Southern Russian Front: a German situation report, for October 29; on the Russian fronts: a German situation report for October 31; on North Africa: detailing GAF operation orders for October 31; on the Mediterranean: that GAF fuel for Africa will not arrive at Piraeus before November 9; the GAF are to push forward the provision of fuel to Benghazi; British activity has caused the cessation of supplies to Tripoli; a convoy is to leave Benghazi for Brindisi on November 1; a report from the Italian minister in Lisbon of a British plan for landing in Libya; from the Japanese minister in Madrid on Franco's view of the war situation on November 1; from the Turkish minister in Madrid on rumours of peace proposals via the Vatican; and a report on the German police: that an SS and police regiment is to go to the Caucasus.
