A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: of aviation fuel supply and storage problems in Benghazi on October 20; of German concern over construction of the loop-line Mersa Matruh - Sidi Barrani, from October 20; a summary of air reconnaissance flights over Egypt, from October 21; of an urgent operational requirement for aircraft ammunition in Benghazi on October 21; of approval for the withdrawal of German aviation fuel from Sardinia on October 21; of air cover being provided for the convoy Iseo en route for North Africa; that a lifting of the ban on attacks on submarines in the Aegean is soon to apply to the Mediterranean, on October 20; an October 20 report of a German air raid on Tobruk; and the Naval Headlines, covering orders for and dispositions of U-boats in anti-convoy activities; and Italian convoys in the Mediterranean. The file also includes a German naval assessment of the Soviet Black Sea fleet, from October 21; a German assessment of the Soviet Black Sea fleet, from October 17; a report on Romanian operations in Crimea, from October 15; internal Afghan views reported by the Italian minister in Kabul on October 13; internal Afghan views reported by the Italian minister in Kabul on October 20; German contacts with the Maharajah of Nepal reported by the Italian minister in Kabul, from June 6; a report of Italian plans for a revolution in India, from June 3; views on U.S.-Japanese and Soviet-Japanese relations relayed by the Japanese ambassador in Rome on October 18; a report of Spanish internal affairs, that the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) was attacked by General Espinoza, reported by the Turkish minister in Madrid on October 18; of Spanish internal affairs pertaining to the MFA's unpopularity; the Turkish minister's report from October 10; a report of King Ibn Saud's response to German proposals on October 22; of German overtures to King Ibn Saud on October 10; and of Saudi-German relations, from October 14.
