Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: of air activities east of Mozhaisk; of snow drifts and soft ground hampering taking off on October 18; that Hitler requires daily serviceability reports of Panzer divisions, from October 16; a summary of Eastern Front operations on October 18; of the German safety bombing line near Rostov on October 18; a report of October 18 of an RAF raid on Derna including a damage report and German air activity; that a conference of air group commanders is to be held, possibly at Derna, on October 20; that German destroyers are carrying troops from Augusta to Benghazi on October 21; that the tugs Marsigli and Max Berendt and the destroyer Cascino sailed to the assistance of the Caterina convoy on October 19; and Naval Headlines, covering U-boat contacts with the home-bound SC Convoy; the reported sinking of the U.S. destroyer Kerney on October 17; that six U-boats are waiting for a convoy from Gibraltar; and the convoy Caterina sailing from Naples on October 16 for Tripoli was attacked by aircraft on October 17.
