A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a German Air Force (GAF) summary report of operations on the Eastern Front; that the Italian Admiralty issued instructions for routing a convoy with air protection from Italy to Benghazi; that the German Africa Corps seek the immediate delivery of anti-aircraft (AA) ammunition to Benghazi; that an Italian convoy is en route from Tripoli to Benghazi; that a convoy has left Benghazi for Tripoli; that an Italian submarine is off Bardia; that an Italian submarine is carrying a cargo of fuel to Bardia; that anti-tank guns are to be transported by towed glider from Greece to Derna, North Africa and the Italian Admiralty confirmed to Benghazi that Day Delta was to be October 11, with an anti-submarine escort to be provided; and on German North Africa air operations, that the Alexandria Force may be between Crete and Libya, and reconnaissance has been extended. This file also contains the report Naval Headlines 103, covering U-boats failing to attack a Gibraltar-bound convoy; Italian convoys; Benghazi on Operation B; and a submarine taking fuel to Bardia. This file also contains a report from the Irish minister in Madrid that Franco's pro-British brother may move from Lisbon to the Foreign Office; Hitler is stated to be seeking a way to make peace with England; and Goering is upset by unauthorised flying over the North Sea/Straits of Dover, which has impaired aircraft detection, warning that aircraft would be forced down and crews court martialled; and the Chief of the Air Staff's (CAS's) comments on the above that the Germans lacking efficient Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) would handicap their defence against British attacks on shipping and ports.
