Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: Group Von Schwedler reports that considerable Soviet forces are attacking without success; that all factories and workers have been moved from Kharkov to the Urals, and there are barricades in the main streets of Kharkov; that Day D for Operation B has been postponed; and that the Germans in Bulgaria seek an aircraft to track a Communist radio transmitter as of October 3. This file also includes Naval Headlines report 98, stating that the Una will sail for Naples carrying salvaged material on October 6; the Achille Lauro is due in Tripoli laden with coal; survivors from the Rialto sunk in convoy C have been recovered; convoy Y, including the Iseo and possibly the Capo Faro, with the destroyer Perseo as escort, left Benghazi for Brindisi on October 2, with the German ship Savona due to leave Benghazi; the destroyer Pallade was damaged in a collision with the hospital ship Virgilio and is returning to Italy; the destroyers Centauro and Partenope are undergoing repairs in Tripoli; and Calliope, Polluce and Clio are on escort duties.
