Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: intelligence on air activity building up in support of the 4th Panzer Group in the central area of the Russian Front on September 30; on the 1st Panzer Group re-grouping, and the 11th and 17th Armies making no progress against strong Soviet opposition in the Crimea and Kharkov areas on October 1; 1st Panzer Army reports of dispositions north and east of Dniepropetrovsk; a report by the German air attaché in Sofia of an impending breach in Soviet-Bulgarian relations, enabling the bombing of Varna and Burgas harbours on October 1; and a report by the Greek minister in Cairo about Turkish fears of German actions from October 2. This file also contains Naval Headlines report 94, stating that German ships in the Baltic were informed on September 26 of arrangements to celebrate the Danish king's birthday.
