Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following correspondence: intelligence on an important convoy - possibly comprising Ankara, Reichenfels, Bainsizza, Giulia, Nirvo and Veniero - to leave Naples on October 2 with an air escort; the delayed return of units in Panzer Group Africa because of the stoppage of transport; a signal for Hermann Goering from the 10th Air Corps giving their reasons for not having attacked the Malta convoy on September 29; a report from the Italian ambassador in Washington on U.S.-Japanese relations from September 28; a report from the Turkish ambassador in Moscow on the war situation, and commenting on the U.K.-U.S.-Soviet relationship from September 27; an appraisal of the war situation by the U.S. minister in Berne from October 2; an urgent telegram to the 10th Air Corps on the German/Italian division of responsibilities in the air-defence and offence roles; and a note from the Prime Minister (PM) to the First Sea Lord (ISL) and the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), and their replies.
