Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: intelligence on fighting in the Poltava-Kharkov area on September 28; on the Dniepropetrovsk bridgehead being extended at Nono-Moskovsk; on Italian claims of successes against a British naval formation which the Germans considered exaggerated on September 28; on German navy fighter aircraft sent to Sicily for convoy escort duties being ordered to return to Greece or Crete on September 29; on 10th Air Corps reports of the Gibraltar fleet in the central Mediterranean, and the Alexandria forces at sea, along with orders to find the fleet at sea; reports that the Italians believe parts of the Gibraltar escorts are returning to the west to protect other merchant vessels on September 28; and on the possible test of a submarine cable between Italy and Libya on September 25.
