Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a report that the staff of the officer commanding (OC) the air component with the Desert Army formation was embarking at Naples for North Africa [June 30]; Panzer Group Africa reports of British Army formations and positions in the Western Desert; 4th Air Fleet intentions for September 24; the intention of the 1st Panzer Group and the 6th Army to continue the destruction of encircled Soviet forces, and for the 11th Army to attack Soviet defensive positions at Perekop supported by two air corps; and that the Spanish expeditionary force marching on Smolensk to join the 9th Army was encountering transportation difficulties. The file also includes Naval Headlines report 86, stating that the battleship Tirpitz and the cruisers Scheer, Koeln and Emden were preparing for sea and had moved to Swinemunde and Sassnitz; and reporting U-boat operations against various convoys and Italian convoy activity.
