A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: an operational report stating that the 11th Army was continuing to advance to the east, the 17th Army was ready for an attack on Poltava, and the 6th Army had tightened the ring around Kiev; a report that winter clothing was ready for the 2nd Anti-Aircraft Corps moving from Ukraine to the northern half of the main Russian Front; a report that the Suez roads were to be bombed on September 18-19; a report that the staff of the air component with the Africa Corps was awaiting transportation in Naples; an order that shipping space from Tripoli eastward was to be reserved for German Africa Corps at the expense of Italians from September 16; reports that guns and ammunition, bought from the French in Tunis by a German gun-purchasing commission, are awaiting delivery on the Libyan border from September 17; a Panzer Group Africa daily report from September 17; a report of problems in supplying Crete as the convoy destroyers were withdrawn for special tasks; a report that ten ME109 aircraft were being sent from Brindisi to Greece; a report from the Japanese ambassador in Washington on the effects of the 'freezing' order affecting trade between Japan and the U.S.; a report from the Turkish ambassador in Madrid reporting discussion with Sen Suner, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, regarding German successes on the Russian Front and possible German actions in Suez should their military activities in Russia be concluded; and a summary of the Romanian Air Force's strength from September 17.
