Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a situation report from the 2nd Air Corps to 12th Army HQ on September 15 indicating a steady advance south and southeast of Chernigov; a report that the 1st Panzer Group made contact with the 2nd Panzer Group, completing an encirclement, and of the advance of the 17th Army on Poltava with the 4th Air Corps, to attack enemy movements in the Crimea and Melitopol area and support the southeast advance of the 11th Army; an operational report by Flieger Fuehrer Afrika on September 14 of raids on Tripoli and Benghazi, and that German Air Force (GAF) aircraft attacked Habata with a 'good result'; an evening report by the Flieger Fuehrer Afrika from September 15 that Hurricane bombers attacked Gambut, along with other Allied encounters; a report that a convoy arrived in Tripoli on September 13, consisting of SS Nirvo, SS Bainsizza and SS Guilia, to complete the discharging of cargo; a report that a fast troop convoy was sailing on September 17, possibly from Taranto to Tripoli; a report that anti-aircraft units were to be transferred to North Africa in October and November; a report that General Gause of Panzer Group Africa would attend a conference in Athens on September 16; a report of the transport of fuel between Brindisi and Piraeus for use by the 10th Air Corps, possibly by SS Ravenna; a report of a new six-engined German flying boat operating in the Mediterranean; a report by a German agent in Spain on the movements of the British fleet; a report of the movement of a bomber unit in Norway; a report that a Focke-Wulf squadron was returning to Bordeaux from Greece; a report of sabotage and resistance activities taking place in Croatia, disrupting the transport of aviation fuel to Zagreb for Operation GYPSY BARON; a report from the Italian counsellor in Madrid of Franco's representative's visit to Berlin; a Japanese Foreign Ministry circular giving a synopsis of reports from China on Japanese-U.S. negotiations and the possible effects on China; a report from the Turkish ambassador in Rome of reports of the September 13 Hitler-Mussolini conversations; and a report from the Italian ambassador in Tokyo on Japanese-U.S. negotiations.
