This file includes the following reports: a report that German troops were advancing beyond the lower Dnieper towards the Crimea; an Italian report of the departure of HMS Ark Royal, HMS Melbourne and HMS Hermione with a destroyer escort from Gibraltar on September 10-11 for an unknown destination; a report that the German 10th Air Corps was carrying out exhaustive reconnaissance flights between Crete and Libya in preparation for a special operation against Tobruk; an Italian report from Istanbul of a meeting between Fritz von Papen and the Turkish President; a report from the Italian ambassador in Tokyo on September 8 of Japanese policy in Asia and public opinion, and Japanese-U.S. negotiations; a report from the Italian ambassador in Istanbul on September 9 suggesting that Fritz von Papen was dissatisfied and displeased with recent political talks with the Turkish President; a report from the Turkish minister in Madrid on September 9 noting possible German demands from Turkey in the event that Britain and the Soviet Union tried to pressure Turkey into keeping the Bosphorus Straits open; a report from the Turkish ambassador in Tokyo claiming that Soviet resistance has had an influence on Japanese thinking, and that the government had accepted an American offer to negotiate; and a report of the slaughter of Jews in Ukraine as part of German police activities [Reported missing June 2014].
