A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: on air operations in the Leningrad area; on a defensive battle fought by the 20th Motorised Division; on aerial attacks on the front line near Dniepropetrovsk on September 2; of aerial attacks on the 47th Panzer Corps during fighting with heavier Soviet tanks; on attacks by the 17 and 18 Panzer Divisions; a German report of an intercepted Soviet situation report; of German Air Force (GAF) field repair workshop losses; details of the tanker SS Ossag's course while returning to Taranto from Benghazi; a report of British aerial attacks on Bardia and Derna; on GAF aviation fuel stocks in Africa; on the arrival of General Osterkamp to take over control of ground organization of the GAF in Africa on August 31; an assessment that the tanker Bellona is too slow for use; on the operational intentions of the 10th Air Corps for September 4; a request for exhaustive GAF aerial reconnaissance flights to locate the Alexandria naval force believed to be at sea; and on the locating of the Staff of the 5th German Mountain Division in Athens on September 2.
