Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: on continuing aerial attacks by the Soviet Air Force against the German Air Force's (GAF's) 2nd Gruppe; on a request to amalgamate German fighter groups, which was refused by Hermann Goering; on the granting of leave to air crews for whom there are no serviceable aircraft; of the 4th Air Fleet's operational orders for September 3; on the crossing of the Dnieper proceeding according to plan, with the 1st Panzer Gruppe widening the bridgehead; on limited GAF training facilities in south east Germany; on the transportation of bombs and aircraft equipment to Tripoli; and on the organisation of German aircraft operating from Elevsis, Derna and Heraklion to attack shipping in the Gulf of Suez and northern Red Sea with Italian torpedoes. This file also contains a Naval Headline report of the German cruiser Admiral Scheer arriving at the entrance to Oslo fjord at dawn on September 3.
