A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following correspondence: reports on battle orders for the 4th and 5th Air Corps in Ukraine; and battle orders for the 2nd Air Corps in the central sector; reports on Soviet attempts to destroy a railway bridge over the Dnieper river and that Dniepropetrovsk was reported to be clear of Soviets on 27 August; on strong Soviet tank attacks against the Dniepropetrovsk bridgehead; on heavy German losses east of the Dnieper; on further German advances in the central sector between Briansk and Kiev; that the 11th Army is to attempt a crossing of the Dnieper river at Berislaw; on Soviet air attacks against the German bridgehead; and on Italian claims against Soviet aircraft by the Italian 3rd mobile division on the Russian Front. This file also contains reports from the Italian minister in Teheran on meeting with the President of the Council regarding the protection of Italian nationals in Iran; from the Japanese chargé in London giving a summary of a meeting between Churchill and Roosevelt; and from the commanding officer for police in south Russia reporting action by the 1st SS Brigade; and that the Police Regiment South shot 367 Jews and the 3rd and 9th partisan battalions were mauled.
