Subjects of discussion in these documents include the strength and locations of Red Army garrisons in liberated and occupied countries in central and Eastern Europe; the Soviet attempts to create subservient client states in these countries; the influence of pan-Germanic ideology in Austria; its development before and after the Anschluss; and the need to ensure that Austria became part of the post-war Western Bloc, rather than falling under the influence of the Soviet Union.
