Illegal Emigration of German Scientists to Latin America

28 Jan 1949

A file of correspondence and memoranda concerning the illegal emigration of German scientists to Latin America after the Second World War. Most of the documents in this file are concerned with the case of Dr Frank, a German scientist working for the Admiralty who was surreptitiously offered a position in a new atomic research station in Argentina. Dr Frank initially accepted the proposal, but eventually decided to stay in Britain. The file also contains a discussion about the possible reasons why Argentina wanted to secure the services of so many German scientists.
