A file of reports produced by the Advisory Committee on Defence Science in 1948. The reports summarise research and experience and recommend areas for further investigation for subjects such as the design of armoured fighting vehicles; the organisation of scientific research in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa; the testing of weapons under tropical conditions; problems of oil research and supply; possible substitutes for scarce strategic materials; useful university courses for the post-graduate training of defence scientists; meteorological research in relation to defence; the problems of airfield construction in a variety of climates and geographical situations; and a list of areas for further scientific exploration, with an accompanying list of possible universities to carry out the investigation.
